Daily Reef Fishing
Daily reef fishing trips departing from Tauranga and Mount Maunganui
Deepstar Charters offers a range of daily reef fishing trips
to suit a range of people no matter your experience and size of group. All of our trips depart from either Tauranga
or Mount Maunganui. Daily reef fishing consists of bottom fishing for main species of fish such as Tarakihi and Snapper as well as a variety of John Dory, Trevally, Pink Moamoa, Porae and Golden Snapper.

Public reef trips
Deepstar Charter's daily reef trips operate daily and run from Tauranga from 7am - 5pm and Mount Maunganui between 7:30am - 4:30pm. The prices are as follows:
- $100.00 Adult
- $70.00 Child (15 years and under)
- Rod Hire: $30.00 (includes all tackle) per rod
- Bait: Squid or Whole Bonito $20.00 per person
Full day private reef trips
Deepstar Charters also run full day private fishing trips for groups of up to 20 people. These operate during the same times as the public trips (Tauranga 7am-5pm and Mount Maunganui 7.30am-4.30pm). The prices are:
- $1600.00 Sat - Sun
- $1500.00 Mon - Fri
- Max 18 - 20 people.
- Rod Hire: $30.00 (includes all tackle) per rod
- Bait: Squid or Whole Bonito $20.00 per person
- Gear needed - 3/0 hooks, 8-10 oz sinkers and rod (minimum 80meters line around 15kg).
Half day reef trips
Half day reef trips run from Mount Maunganui between 9am - 3pm. The prices are as follows:
- $90.00 Adult
- $60.00 Child (15 years and under)
- Rod & Bait Hire: $40.00 per person (includes all tackle and bait for the day)
Private half day trips are also available for groups of up to 20 people: $1,400 per group + $40 per person rod and bait hire.
Evening reef trips
Evening reef trips run from Mount Maunganui 4pm - 9.30pm, for private charter groups only.
- $1,400 per group, up to 20 people
- Rod & Bait Hire: $40.00 per person (includes all tackle and bait for the night)
